Greetings room one parents,

I hop you have all had a fantastic week.

Here's an idea of what we've been up to:
-For a math/science activity we have been collecting data about the types of snack packaging and using our graphing skills to interpret the data.
-We have also been working on geometry, learning to classify different triangles and quadrilaterals
-In Science we have been learning about how we can reduce our landfill waste
-We continue to use our novel study: "Twisted tales from Wayside School" learn about description by comparing different characters.

Next week:
-In math will be learning about vertices and edges.
-We will learn about how artist break up pictures into basic shapes in order to draw them
-We will continue to work on persuasive writing as the students write about a pet monster they would adopt.

Have a great week,

Nov. 25th-29th Weekly update

Nov. 25th-29th Weekly update

Hello Room one parents.

December is upon, oh how the time has flown. Heres a look back at the week past:
-We finished the school wide felting project. Look for our new display in the front lobby in the new year!
-We started reading our new class novel study: "Sideways Stories from Wayside School". So far, the students find it hilarious!
-In Science we have been tracking the different types of waste left over from our daily snack. This has allowed up to use our graphing skills to graph the data we have collected.
-In math we are using "Cuisenaire Rods" which are math manipulative that help students to visualize their number sense.
-The Social Studies regions poster was due this week! So many great projects.

Next week:
Here is a sneak-peak of the first week of December:
-We will be completing a mid-year writing assessment to track our growth in functional writing.
-In math we are moving into the "Shape and space" curriculum. We will be looking at categorizing shapes including discussing "what is the difference between a regular and irregular shape?"
-In Science we will be focusing on how different materials get recycled

Have a great week!
Mr.U
