Weekly update Nov. 4-8

Hello Parents, Here's a look at our week in review moving into the Remembrance day long weekend.

Our class put on an exceptional performance of "Sadako and the 1000 Paper Cranes" for this years Remembrance Day ceremony. It was great to see that many of our parents could come out to see the show.

-In Social Studies we have started a poster project in which the students will demonstrate their understanding of the geographical regions of Alberta.
-In math the students worked on demonstrating their understanding of place value through the use of base 10 block representation and number lines
-In Language Arts we cup up old nonfiction books and made collage posters of their text features (I.e. titles, maps, diagrams and  captions)

This week:

With the major performance behind us we will be starting some new curriculum as well as finishing up some projects for parent teacher interviews.

-In Science we start the "Waste in our world" unit
-In Social the students will use the text features they learn about the previous week to complete their "My cozy cabin" regions project
-In Language arts we will be refining our sentence writing by learning how to use topic sentences and juicy words to elevate our writing.
-In math we will be using rulers to visualize subtraction and practice our measurement skills

I apologize for missing the last weekly update. It was due to some particularly nasty illness running through my family.

However, here are a few photos from our Belfast Halloween festivities.

Have a great week,

               Mr. Ursenbach
